Bsda MLS Next - can you also play for school

For high school boys. If your school soccer season is in the fall, will Bethesda let you play if you’re on the MLS Next team? Not goalie.

If it’s a private school and your acceptance or scholarship hinged upon your playing for the school.

Other than above the answer is no.

Also it’s not Bethesda who “decides” — it’s the league’s rule.

Bethesda would generally not know or care as long as you're not missing practices and games. Usually it's the parents ratting out others' kids who create the issue.

They don't say you can't play HS but they penalize kids who do.

We are at another MLS Next club. As it has been explained to me by our staff, the club and the school have to be in an agreement re number of practices and number of games the player will play each week for each team during the season that player plays both.

I do know of players in our club in our age group and in others who play on other teams (some public schools, some actual clubs, some GA, I think that is what it is called) and our club looks the other way and doesn't do anything as long as they show up for club games and practices. I have no idea if MLSN knows and I don't want to get involved in that mess. Don't know re Bethesda. It seems like a don't ask don't tell situation for our club but what do I know.
