| Very long story but will cut to the chase....I am having to purchase a sheet cake for 60 people from Giant food for an outside event. Not a cake person....Any recommendations on flavor, icing (whipped or buttercreme) and fillings (strawberry, lemon, etc) to choose? I know, I know...go to Costco instead but it's not an option. Just trying to provide the best outcome of a sheet cake possible from Giant. Thank You for your input! |
| Go to Costco. Seriously. Even if you have to by a gift card to make it happen. |
| Whipped icing, strawberry or chocolate filling. |
| Go to Wegmans instead. |
| Wegmans |
| Wegmans cakes are amazing. People always comment on how good it is when I serve that at my kids’ birthday parties. |
| Giant cakes are fine. Definitely do buttercream icing with either strawberry or lemon. |
| I’ve never actually gotten a filling when I’ve ordered one. Just a frosted sheet cake. Do some Giants actually do a filling? |
| Wegmans but buttercream frosting is the only way. Whipped is gross. |
|
For all the years we had birthday parties, we had cakes from Giant, and they were all gobbled up. They’re yummy.
You look a little silly pretending to be SO ashamed that you are being FORCED to get a cake from Giant. Eye roll. |
| Giant does a good basic cake. I would go with buttercream icing, as they do it well. No filling, and just do a half chocolate -half vanilla cake. Then people can choose their flavor. |
| I would go with the whipped frosting. I prefer buttercream, but I disagree with the PP who things Giant will "do it well." I eat Giant cake once in a while, and their buttercream is crisco. Yuck. |
Bakery buttercream has shortening. |
Ummm, yeah? That's what Crisco is. Shortening. |
| Buttercream only |
