Summer basketball for middle schoolers

Anonymous
DS attended Wooten basketball camp at ST James last summer and we won’t overly impressed. It was really hot and the kids were mostly outside.

Can you recommend some good summer camps for a 12yo?

Open to skills training or clinics. Looking for more than 1 hour sessions.

There is a Washington Wizards Camp at the STJ and many other locations. GMU usually has some summer basketball camps that seemed pretty decent. Basically all the local colleges and many high schools will have basketball camps for one to a few weeks throughout the summer.

If i paid for basketball at STJ prices I would have been so pissed if they weren't using the indoor courts

The high school camps are the best!

HoopEd does some decent camps in DC. Look for the basketball-specific ones like D-school.

Our kids love the Wootten camp and don't mind being outside. Not ideal but fine. It's camp.

From Nova? Seems like a trek for a 12yo day camp.

I guess as long as they told you before you signed up and charged an appropriately low price ($50? $75?)

I would be shocked to pull up and find out the camp was outdoors, in VA summer.

The camp is not outdoors! Portions of it go outside, yes but they're not 100% outside

If I paid for a basketball camp at TSJ, I would expect them to play on the lovely indoor, air conditioned courts. I would be livid if they went outside.
