Required number of NCSL games

Our kid's team only lists 8 games this season now for some reason when it used to have 9. I thought they had to at least give you 9. Is that not the case? I'm pissed because a parent told me they think another team we are supposed to play will forfeit because they can't seem to field a full roster for that team this season. If that happens my kid's team will only actually play 7 games while everyone will play 9 it seems so what am I paying travel season costs for?

It's all going to depend on how many kids are in that league's age group and level - not controlled by the club. Sometimes is more than others.

You will likely also have a tournament or two in there. If you still feel like your kid is missing out, ask your coach if there's a chance to do a scrimmage with another team as well.

I mean EDP only guarantees 7. Sometimes you get 11. 11 is too many for a short spring season

There should be a set number of games every team is scheduled for. Orgs pay NCSL a fee per team and that fee covers X number of games per team. How many games are other teams playing?

We have 9 games on our schedule. Everyone should have 9.

Not how it works beyond a minimum. It depends on how many teams sign up to the league.

Agreed. I'd be thrilled to have less games.

So the question is what is the contractual minimum?

I think our team is playing in the same grouping as OP we also have 8 games now instead of 9. It's one of the very large divisions with over 20 teams not one with only the teams you are playing. I get restructuring schedules is a pain. But, there are more than enough teams to make it work in the age group and division. Why make these mega divisions if you're not going to make it so everybody has the same number of games? Hell I'd be fine if they even just had us play one of the other teams we were already playing again.

By the time you get to the end of spring season, don't most people just want it to be over so they can move on to their new teams or get rid of the players who don't want to be there?

People like to get what they are paying for.

One division had a team drop and then added a second game against another team in the division for our team. Maybe they'll do that? This is an older age group, not one of the younger ones with a bunch of teams like the PP mentioned. I'd ask your club rep about requesting another game, maybe?

It’s usually 8-9 games depending on the length of the season.
