What is the difference between Virginia Premier Soccer League State Cup vs VYSA State Cup?
What makes it even more confusing is that they both lead to different "national cups" I noticed some 2nd teams participating in the VYSA State Cup, so I assume the Virginia Premier Soccer League State Cup is the better one? |

| One is run by USYS and the other is USCS. |

| They are similar. Neither one is considered more “prestigious”. Both have mostly regional league 2nd teams. They are just like any other tournament except the format plays games over months instead of all in one weekend. |

so 1st teams don't usually participate in neither state cup (USYS, USCS)? I wonder why?
I would think these are mayor cups since they lead to regional and national cups. Unless they're not? |

They aren't major. They are great for mid tier clubs to claim they won something and that's about it |

Considering 1st teams all around the country are typically in ECNL National or Girls Academy, both of those leagues have their own national championships via post season play. So add that to the mix and that's why there are only '2nd teams' participating in those tournaments. |

Everything about this is correct except for the fact that ECNL does start at U13. |

Yes, ECNL does begin at U13 (doesnt make sense to IMO.) No, clubs top teams do not play in the state cup.

It is the truth. Top teams over U13 no longer participate. State Cup used to be a pretty big deal and no longer is. That said it is still a good tournament but primarily for clubs 2nd or 3rd teams to play. Below U13 it is still fun and high level meaningful, but they are just little kids but is still a fun experience. You don't need to be offended by the truth. Enjoy it if your kid is involved but don't try and think too much of it beyond your own child's fun and experience. |

Coaches and club reps posting here will get upset by this but the 100% fact is that the big clubs 1st teams duck out because of fear of not winning it. Can't have parents realize they are paying all the money and not very good. Also why a lot of big clubs are in different leagues so they don't face each other. Also why a new league will form in a few years. |
