experiences with titanium v ceramic tooth impant?

Anonymous
I can do my homework on the medical research, but interested in hearing about any anecdotal experiences (or dental knowledge) on titanium v ceramic implant. Waiting as long as I can but had to have a tooth extracted. Also, any experiences just never getting an implant/crown? Thanks so much.

I’ve heard your teeth can shift; however, plenty of people in other countries never replace teeth and seem to live happy lives. There are also people who medically can’t get implants/oral surgery. They go without.

Thanks--yes, I am inclined to go without. Both my parents do/did this, but they were far older. My concern is there must be some reason ppl get these--jawbone? Strain on other teeth? I have zero cosmetic concern and it's pretty far back anyway.

Have seen that metal implants can create infections plus leach metals... plus literally create an antenna in your mouth which is not good for emf exposure etc.

I've had two back molars pulled (one on top, one on bottom; they line up when I bite down). It's been 10 years. Zero issues or shifting.

Thanks--were you given a bone graft when the tooth was extracted? (I was).

I have a titanium implant. No issues. It’s all the way in the back. I had proposed leaving a hole there but because I have a tooth above the doctor said it would change my bite and cause me to chew on the opposite side, which could cause overuse. He said it was too young (got it when i was early 40s) to not fill it in. I guess I didn’t think too much about it. I also had bone tissue added - that freaked me out more since it was someone’s else tissue (yuck).

I had the very last tooth on the bottom pulled 25 years ago. They gave me the option of an implant but I couldn’t afford it. I was in college at the time and had no dental insurance hence the pulled tooth from an untreated cavity and root canal gone awry. They said the tooth above it would likely grow down trying to meet another tooth. That hasn’t happened. No shifting either. It has never bothered me and isn’t visible.

Thank you, this is super helpful.

I’ve had three done, and the oldest is 25 years old, all titanium. I got the implants because m6 jaw is very small and missing a molar means missing half my back teeth. I have had no issues or complications and I’m so glad the twc( ology for them is available.

I’ve have a titanium implant for two years now and I wish I had done it sooner. It was the middle molar, so I thought it would be fine, but it’s always been harder to eat on that side. When I finally got the implant, my front teeth shifted and are now slightly more crowded. I can chew on both sides easily now which I think is better for the muscles/joints in your face and jaw.
