What is your lifestyle like? Do you worry about a budget at all? Talking about a continuous income for 5-7 years.

DP. And what do you do to make this kind of income?

Everyone makes one million a year now days

I don't. And I know statistically very few people do, except liars on an anonymous forum - most of them make $1M+.

We make anywhere from 500-800 for a decade and we still budget like crazy. I live in fear that we will lose our jobs every year or two. We both work. Kids in private. Own 3 houses. Don't do this - too much overhead.

We were fortunate to buy when interest rates were low, so we have a large house with the mortgage we could afford when making half of what we do now. We take two nice vacations per year, buy nice clothes, and pay for private school, but drive older cars and have a very aggressive savings target each month so that in the future neither of us need to work these jobs.

Not what one would expect. (Or what I would have expected) We don’t budget much but save a ton through automatic deductions for 401ks and deferred comp. 2-3 nice vacations a year but mainly on miles/points from work. Private school/university. One older car and haven’t moved in 16 years although we could of course afford more house/cars.

We've been in this range for the last 5 years. We have played catch-up from not saving for years when we had huge medical bills and job loss. Such a relief now to mostly have private college paid for and in much better shape for retirement. But I'm still in heavy budget mode from those years of uncertainty. Haven't let up from work and are saving everything we can. IF we finally reach our retirement goals, we will probably just keep pushing on. My next financial goal will be to help our kids out with a downpayment to buy their first tiny studio apartment. The news makes it seem like an impossible goal for younger people so if we can help, we will.

So you don’t make the money OP is asking about and nobody gives a shit about your opinion.

I am disappointed at the mean and rude tone of some of the posters on these threads. The poster just shared their journey. I appreciate the response. Your response is not collegial or supportive. Why?

Because OP asked for thoughts from posters making two to three times what this poster makes and posters making that much more are in a far different situation.
