I'd originally seen that MCPS were planning to give the class of '25 priority registration for Health B summer classes, and the fees would be waived. But I've just looked at the page for registration (opens on March 22), and there's nothing at all about either priority or fee waivers for class of '25.
Have I missed something—did they backtrack on this? I can't find anything confirming it on the MCPS site, and the search engine is useless. I'm subscribed to everything and try to read all the bulletins and quick notes, but I haven't seen anything announcing either the registration or the Class of '25 stuff. I mean, I guess we'll register immediately and pay the fees, just to be certain they can get it done before senior year, but it would be nice to know if MCPS plans on honoring that original plan. Suppose I can also fill out the help form, but based on past experience, I'm not confident that will actually get me anywhere. |

Health B being free of charge for the class of 2025 is included in the resolution the board adopted in January.

The 2-week priority window for class of 2025 didn’t happen, though, did it? I’d understood they’d only approved the broad dates at this meeting, and left the details to be considered at another meeting. I’d just like to see something in writing that confirms we won’t receive an invoice before my student registers. |
Wait, registration hasn’t even opened; have you been told that the priority registration won in happen? Would expect them to open up registration to juniors for that class for the first two weeks of the registration period. |
They did not open the registration early for '25, but as long as '25 reg is guaranteed, it shouldn't matter. It is confusing, though, that they sent out emails and discussed at BOE, but then did not reiterate in connection with the actual registration window. |
They never came back to present this at a later board meeting. |
Well, there’s no mention on the website of a two-week moratorium on Health B for all other students. If that’s how they’re doing it, why would they not explain that? I’d be pissed if I set aside time on Friday to register my freshman or sophomore for Health B and found I had to wait 2 weeks. Which is why I’m wondering whether I’ve missed something. Given how badly they handed the rollout of Health B in general, it’s entirely possible they backtracked and quietly canned the priority registration and the fee waiver. Guess I’ll just have to register early on Friday and see what happens with the invoice. Fortunately we can pay, but it would suck for families who had planned their budgets around the waiver. |
| MCPS sent an email on January 3rd to all parents of class of '25 who had not yet taken Health B. It said in that email that there would be no charge. |
