Rainy day in NYC with 17 year old

Anonymous
I will in NY this weekend and looks like we will be getting rainy weather. We had plans for the highline, CP, Greenwich tour and SOHO shopping. Not sure MoMa will attract her, what else can we plan? Will the Summit One still have visibility? We are going to broadway one day. Any other non-broadway plays/options for that age?

Op again: Blue man group for this age?

I think Blue Man Group is kind of gross but my tween boys liked it—if that helps. Depends on teens interests. What about an arty film, something at the Angelika?

I would do a museum and also bring a warm rain coat and umbrella.

Long afternoon tea at Alice’s Tea cup or that new afternoon tea bus?

She asked for museum of icecream which I personally am not sure about!

I did alices teacup but did not quite like it as much. Maybe a different location would help. Any teaplaces close to SoHO?

Not Museum of Ice Cream for a 17 year old. It’s barely fun and interesting for a 10 year old.

Take her to the Whitney Biennial and Chelsea Market - there's a "flea market" in the back there where my teen enjoys browsing.

Hop On/Hop off bus and go wherever looks interesting. Wear a raincoat, bring an umbrella, and don’t let the rain stop you! It will help keep crowds down.

The Met or the natural history museum are obvious choices. Or see if you can find a day-off ticket for another Broadway show.

People still walk all over ny in the rain. Wear good boots, a rain jacket and bring a good umbrella. The parks are gorgeous in the rain.

I love the Lower East Side Tenement Museum but you need advanced tickets, I believe.

Industry city in sunset park Brooklyn. It's like Chelsea market but 10x bigger and 10x cooler. They always have different events on the weekends too.

Agree on Tenement Museum. I thought the ice cream museum was cool- teens I went with loved it. It’s instagram- friendly, if that appeals.

Also look at Rise NY, which is a museum about NYC history that has a 3D ride at the end.

Alice’s Tea Cup wasn’t worth it my opinion. Plenty of better places for a teen.

Thanks all! Any thoughts on Madame Tussauds?

Maybe bowling or golfing at Chelsea Piers?
