Itchy red dots on both shins

Anonymous
My DH has broken out in a rash, started with one shin and now identical on both, tiny red raised itchy dots, started at ankles and now spreading up to both knees. Hydrocortisone helping with itch but not getting rid of the rash. Any idea what this is? It isn't poison ivy. It's identical patterns on both legs.

Drug reaction?

I have very sensitive skin and get an itchy rash sometimes from socks - almost like a heat rash.

Hmm, not on any new meds.

Yup looks like heat rash but is spreading beyond sock territory

Fleas or chigger bites? Swimmers itch?

Are you using any new laundry detergent or fabric softeners?

Could it be a food allergy? Was he sick recently? An allergist told me that viruses can trigger allergic reactions. Could it be a food allergy?

Agree to consider he is not using any new products (I once got a rash on my mouth from a toothpaste)

I would make an appt with a dermatologist.

Is it along the seams of his pants? Maybe that seam is rubbing against the legs and causing a rash?

See a dermatologist. Don't wait.

For starters, they can prescribe stronger hydrocortisone creams and other more effective meds. Also, you want him checked out for any serious problems. I had a case of LDS that presented as red itchy rashes on my lower legs that was eventually traced to an autoimmune issue.

Exercise induced vasculitis aka Disney rash? Has he increased his level of exercising recently?

Heat rash, if it appeared after being active in warmer weather this weekend.

Does he swim at a gym? Or do yoga or anything with a mat at a gym? Could be mulluscom but that’s pretty unusual for an adult.

Sorry, mulluscum
