I am based in Montgomery County and I am wondering which way you all think local news sources lean. I have my assumptions and guesses, curious as to what yours are.
|
| The local tv news shows lean right, but few people under 50 watch the local eyewitness news shows these days. The local newspaper sources like the Washington Post lean left. The local news websites that are taking over the local news are purely objective: Moco360, popville, annandale today, etc. |
|
Rockvillenights is a hyperlocal blog run by some right wing local guy. It tends to be objective simple reports but sometimes he goes all out on the city council lol
Mocoshow more objective. Not much else out there really, beyond nextdoor |
| Montgomery Perspective |
| Moderately MoCo is good. It's a mix of reposts and super-inside info mostly about MCPS and the county council. |
Perspective seems to to be purely opinion after some facts are included |
|
None of the Twitter accounts you are talking about are news sources and the fact you think they are is pathetic.
The provide unverifiable information that is highly informed by personal opinion. But it’s not news. It doesn’t matter which way they lean they aren’t news sources. |
Analysis more than opinion. He's very well connected with sources on the inside of just about everything. |
I think OP was talking news sources such as Montgomery Community Media which is literally paid for by government so probably pretty far on the left, the moco show which is one guy who’s a gym teacher, moco 360 which is left leaning IMO, but maybe less now then a couple months back, moderately moco which is a little right leaning and just one guy who is very knowledgeable, and then Dyer who is far right. Unless I am missing someone locally. Then there are Twitter accounts that just spew scanner chatter |
No. Moderately MoCo is right wing propaganda. |
It's definitely centrist, but to progressives, I'm sure it feels right wing. |
| They say if people from both sides are giving a place grief then that place is pretty objective |
Montgomery county media is literally the only one of the ones you listed that is a “news source”. The rest are essentially blogs. Mocoshow even said they would never give a bad review of a restaurant he is only there to inform people of new restaurants and anything would be an opinion. He is smart and knows everything he posts is an opinion He may say there is a car accident which is information not news. No 1 person is “pretty knowledgeable “ about everything and perhaps even much. It’s an opinion blog. Dyer is a blog not news. |
I beg to differ on most of these blogs. Montgomery county media is kind of just what the county wants to push out I don’t know if they have ever broken any kind of actual news at all. Moco show is mainly information but they do restaurant and stores news and things like that. It’s not serious but it is still news IMO and if you talk to the guy he is always very nice and seems very intelligent. Robert dyer is good for 1 sentence or two on restaurants or stores but the other stuff is all opinion methinks. I think moderately moco is the best of the bunch because it is news with a purpose even though the purpose might be his very own opinions. He is very good and has very good sources from what I have seen. He breaks some good stuff |
| Montgomery Perspective is pretty selective in what it publishes. You never see anything criticizing Friedson, Katz, or Albornoz but all the other members seem to be fair game. |
