Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS)
| It will be hitting max in our area right at dismissal (3:20pm). Are there any safety concerns ? |
| Lord woman, how have you made it this far in life? |
I thought it was more like 1:30 pm? And yes, I absolutely have safety concerns. There’s no way they can police everyone and make sure they don’t look at the sun. I’ve already purchased our solar eclipse glasses so we can have a viewing party in the comfort and safety of our own home. I’m pulling the kids out early that day. |

Max in this area will be very undramatic. Unless you traveling to an area with full coverage (e.g., Cleveland), it won't be affecting much. Daylight won't even be noticeably dimmer.
Like all days, just don't be like Trump and avoid staring at the sun unprotected. |
| I got an email from the principal of my school (teacher) saying we should keep kids from viewing the sun. |
Not PP but please shut it....Texas schools closed. There can be safety concerns. |
What a stupid response. FCPS put it in its newsletter- kids need to know how to manage it. |
| We are nowhere near the path of totality. It won't even be noticeable here. Good grief. |
And yet, somehow, our species has survived this long. it’s a miracle! I’m sure there weren’t any newsletters in 600 BC telling people avoid looking at the sun, and they still survived. |
Thanks for topping your prior stupid response with an even dumber one. |

You won’t want to miss this amazing authentic astronomical event right here in your own backyard. The moon will cover 90% of the sun. It will be noticeable just like in 2017. 👍
Buy your solar eye protection gear now! It will start around 2pm with peak coverage at 3:20pm for the DMV area. Then it will move away from covering the sun until 4pm. There are festivals planned in the area. I wish there was a half school day for this event! |
I guess you told them. |
