| Do you find yourself having to reschedule your teens' appointments a lot? We just were told about a meet and I made a derm appointment months ago for dd. It's now on the same day and with an hour between the appointment and meet. I am so stressed out by this stuff. I hate that we come off flaky when I don't have all the info to start. Will derm hate us if I ask to move the appointment a bit early? |
| The Derm won't even know - it's their office staff that will know. Is the dr appt tomorrow? If it's next week, call tomorrow morning to change it. If it's actually tomorrow then you need to keep the appointment. |
Next week, but I am so annoyed. I am not sure she can do it earlier. I also had to do this for my ds for another appointment also because of sports. We always find out about random tournaments and meets so last minute. |
| I don’t schedule appointments after school during their sports seasons, ever. It’s either a game or practice they would be missing. I plan way ahead and make things like this on teacher workdays, their vacations, before school, first thing in the morning or if none of that works, their advisory/homeroom block. Of course when emergencies or sickness come up you take the soonest appointment and they don’t go to the meet. |
I swear we go 10 months with nothing, then everything happens at once. I've tried to spread out appointments, but I've never been successful. Don't have the answer, but I feel for you! |
This is for acne and we started recently, I have scheduled as much as I could for teacher work days. She cannot miss the meet. |
And I should add she has early release that day and the appointment was for before practice and after school. We did not know about this meet. I hate that you are making me feel flaky. |
You are replying to me and I understand that, we’ve been there with acne. Call and see what other options they have. Have her miss a class if that’s the only available appointment. I don’t feel bad when we need to change appointments, sometimes we do based on our work schedules and we can’t bring them. That’s life. |
| Derm appointments tend to be tough to reschedule. Can't your kid get some kind of medical excused absence for missing meet if appointment can't be rescheduled in a reasonable amount of time. |
Same |
That’s ridiculous. Life is not put on hold for sports. We routinely need to see the doctor for visits we could not have foreseen - UTI, muscle spasm/neck pain, new medical diagnosis. Not to mention orthodontist appointments. It’s part of life. Sometimes we have to reschedule the appointment, sometimes I do during the school day when my kid has an elective/lunch, sometimes we nab evening appointments or cancellations. Sometimes they even have to miss practice. |
| First, call the office and see if a change is possible. Can you go to the scheduled appointment and drive her to the meet? Doctor appointments can sometimes take SO long to secure and I hate to change them. |
| No, but I’d skip a meet for a needed dr apt. |
|
I don’t think it is a big deal to reschedule. Derm is not an easy appointment to get in the first place.
I had to reschedule my son’s dentist and ped appointment twice. |
| It's not that big a deal to reschedule. Now if you're constantly rescheduling with the same doctor's office, yes the staff is not going to be your best friend. Here and there, they won't care. |
