Do I have to wait between IUIs?

Anonymous
I just completed my first IUI. If this one doesn't work, can I do another next month? Can I go straight to IVF next month? Or is there some kind of wash out period? Thanks!

It depends whether you used injectible drugs or not. If you did, then I believe you might have to skip a cycle. If not, then you can do IUIs back to back.

I never had to skip even when using injectibles.

I think you have to skip if something's amiss on day 3 testing (like a cyst), but don't know of other reasons to delay.

I've had to skip a cycle b/c I had too many cysts or the cysts I had were producing too much estrogen. I've also had to skip b/c I had way too many follicles and they were worried about multiplies. This was for an IUI cycle. Both times, the cycle after I skipped I got pregnant. The first one we had a successful pregnancy and a DS. The second pregnancy ended in a miscarriage. We have now moved on to discussions of IVF. From what I've been told, the first cycle they put you on BCPs and then the next month you have the IVF. So, it seems that there is always 2 cycles with an IVF, no back to back. HTH
