For awhile the addition of Uber and Lyft were great. By this point their introduction has clearly degraded the experience of actually trying to get around anywhere higher density.
Neither is fully reliable for being on time and where they need to be for pre-reserved rides. I really did not have this issue with the cab companies ever back in the day. Way fewer taxis roaming the streets means I’m stuck waiting around for a Lyft/Uber in DC whenever I am headed back from a mtg. Very low odds of being able to hail a cab on the street anymore and wait times for an app car are routinely 5+ minutes. It’s way better for trying to get around in the deep suburbs where I live but way worse in the areas that used to be well served by taxi coverage. Ok vent done. |

The taxi industry did it to themselves, so I have no complaints. I would routinely have fake upcharges added in to the meter in taxis or asked to get out of the taxi once they knew I was traveling between DC / VA / MD.
Uber and Lyft are still a HUGE value added to my life. |
