Looking for opinions on the transition support services at TSRC/ Vienna in FCPS. We have a senior struggling with just two classes she still has left to complete. She is capable of doing well, but has extreme social anxiety and has developed unhealthy ways to manage that -- avoidance, mostly.
She is not someone who actively gets in trouble, but will follow if it means she can avoid the classroom. We are now in a situation where the plan we had in place to see her complete these last two classes has fallen apart. Her school is recommending the TSRC at Cedar Lane. Any feedback on the place? Looking at the type of behaviors they cater for, I am a very nervous about the peers - which is exactly why she developed classroom anxiety in the first place, and why our current plans are falling apart. She also does have an IEP, although I am not certain how well that will help her at this point. Yes, we are treating her anxiety and executive functioning. It has not been very successful. Also looking for alternatives that would be available to her through private education, although the options are fairly slim at this point. Thanks, Ioana |
| This program is located at Cedar but is completely separate programming. Can you take a tour? TSRC is usually a half day program for students who can self-pace and don’t need intense special education interventions. |
| She only has two classes? If all you care about is passing and not lesrning the info--/Switch her to home based for mental health reasons. She will eventually be scheduled to meet with a teacher once a week. They will gove her a small amount of work and then pass her. |
