If you and your spouse had 3 days to go somewhere, where would you go? We want to have some couple time, reconnect and put some
spice back into our marriage. We are in our mid forties and live in DC. We always travel with family so this getaway will be a first for us to just be alone with each other. We are pretty adventurous and will try new things so open to suggestions. |
Puerto Rico |
Or Grand Cayman, which I'd rank higher. |
New York or New Orleans. |
Nice thing about PR is not having to deal w customs. The Ritz is nice for a weekend getaway and is close to the airport |
Bermuda. So easy to get to and not overrun with kids. Get a rental and rent an electric car to go around the island. Costa Rica (takes longer to get there - but there are direct n/s flights from Dulles) |
Budget? |
It's 3 days so I probably wouldn't go too far. Somewhere within easy driving distance or even better, Amtrak.
What are your interests? Does seeing shows and going to museums in a place like NYC interest you? Do you like outdoor activity (hiking in Shenandoah?) Do you like wine? Virginia wine country? |
I’d want to go somewhere warm, fly non stop, and not be at a place with a lot of kids. Check non stops to the Caribbean, book two tickets with a 24 hour hold and then search for nice hotels. Turks and Caicos is one of the quicker islands to get to and the beach along Grace Bay is beautiful. It’s impossible to not connect after an afternoon at the beach or after a romantic dinner outdoors. Or both! |
They're both amazing and worthwhile but gross. Neither one is sexy IMO. |
The Inn at Willow Grove is gorgeous and relaxing with a spa- fine dining and gorgeous property. We love it there. |
Aruba. |
Local: St Michaels MD, stay at the Inn at Perry Cabin or one of the small boutique hotels in town.
Middleburg VA, stay at the Salamander Resort or Red Fox Inn. Regional: Homestead Resort in Bath County VA. Also, any boutique hotel, nice AirBnB in Lexington, Staunton, elsewhere in the Shenandoah Valley. Further Afield: Charleston SC or Savannah GA. My wife and I honeymooned in Savannah, and have spent countless romantic getaways in both cities. International: If you have more than 3 days, Iceland is excellent, relaxing, and rejuvenating. Spend time at one of the lagoons--we did the Seven Step Ritual at Sky Lagoon in Reykjavik, and stayed at a nice hotel on the square by the Icelandic Alþingi. |
If you enjoy outdoors, Zion NP. |
What time of year? If now, maybe Puerto Rico or Miami. |
