Hey fellow parents of disabled and special needs kids. I am reaching my breaking point. My lowish dose of an SSRI prescribed by my GP is no longer cutting it against the soul crushing, exhausting, and relentless existence of being my ASD kid’s parent.
Who can I see who will get it and help me find the right med/meds to get me through the next 4 +/- decades of this hell. |

I found an amazing psychiatrist by comparing the Washingtonian's Top Docs list of psychiatrists with my insurance company's list of who was in-network.
I'd give you his name, but he hasn't taken new patients for several years. |
| Marc Buchard at Inspire is awesome |

Tara Walker is great. (I am an ADHD mom of two ADHD preteens, both with significant mental health struggles and probably ASD as well.). She doesn't take insurance though.

My DH has ADHD/depression. His psychiatrist seems to have flaked out and the psychiatrist that prescribes for our boys doesn't see adults.
I ended up contacting Inova Mental Health Services to get a provider. I wasn't even looking for in-network (we all know how that goes, don't we?) He know sees providers thru them https://www.inova.org/our-services/inova-behavioral-health-services/programs-and-services/adult-mental-health-services |
| You can search on Psychology Today. We see Dr. Garland through telehealth (VA) |
| I like Potomac Psychiatry but they don't take insurance... |
| Psychology Today is a great place to start searching if you are looking for in-network. You can try matching against lists of Top Doctors. I found only going through my health plan search function yielded many doctors connected with Hopkins’ hospitals, which was useless |
| I use Talkiatry for online psychiatry. Wellbutrin was helpful for me. |
