Help me decide (Italy Question)

Anonymous
I am an older person who will be traveling around Italy later this spring. My current itinerary includes a quick foray into Cinque Terre(1 day, two nights) along with two days, three nights in Siena. In Tuscany, I will be taking day trips to villages nearby (with small local tours). I won't have a car would have to take the train to Cinque Terre. In Siena, I will be staying in a peaceful looking villa (hotel) just outside the city walls (so I can walk into town or take a bus).

Now I am wondering if the frequent moves, even with just a carry on suitcase, will tire me out. Should I skip the day in Cinque Terre (which I have never seen) for another day in Tuscany (to just wander around Siena, with no set schedule)? There is room in the villa for me to extend my stay.

So the entire trip is 5 nights? That is a very short amount of time given the jet lag and duration of travel. I would stick to one place or extend my trip.

Agreed. Cinque Terre is beautiful, but depending on where your hotel is you might be walking up some hills with your luggage to get there so I would consider that as well.

No, the entire trip is almost 3 weeks. Just asking about whether to simplify this middle part (I.e., whether trying to get a feel for Cinque Terre in one day will be worth the effort, vs going deeper into Tuscany?)

And some parts are non-refundable, but this portion can still be changed.

I think cinque Terre is gorgeous and well worth a day! You can take a train between the towns I believe.

But it is hilly. In which town in Cinque Terre is your hotel?

No sense in extending a stay in Siena -- it is quite small.

If I go to Cinque Terre, I will be staying in Monterosso al mare

My thought was to take a boat between the towns on the full day between my two nights there.

From Siena, I was going to take full day tours outside of town (to San Giacomo , Pienza , Montepulciano, with farm meals included.) So the extra day would be spent wandering around actual Siena, on my own.

Thanks to those if you who have done both places 👍
