| DD's U17 team (VA) is always a little shorthanded in the spring because of HS soccer injuries, etc. Our coach mentioned that there are some trapped U18 players that will be able to play games with DD's team in the spring. I've always understood that you can't play "down" but apparently there is some exception to this and I'm not sure what it is. Anybody know? |
If this is ECNL, see 2.9.1 of the competition rules. Trapped U18/19 players can participate in ECNL Showcases and in ECNL Playoffs (at all levels except Champions League), but not in conference games. Trapped U15 players may compete in conference games played during the player's sanctioned high school soccer association's competition season (not more than 2 trapped players in a game). https://docs.google.com/document/d/1-NdLhy6yTgRJrXKs8evae4c84mwtfFm17IJmgdjZXOk/edit |
| This is an ECRL team but it appears that the rule applies to both NL and RL. Thanks for the link, PP! |
| I believe it’s a limit of 2 playing down and ECNL kids can’t play on RL teams. |
