"We have continued to make progress toward our three 2023-24 School Improvement and Innovation Plan (SIIP) goals.

By the end of the 2023-2024 school year, 100% of 9th grade students scoring below proficient on the initial Math Inventory will demonstrate proficiency on the end of year Math Inventory assessment.
Progress Report: We are on track to achieve our measurable outcome. Teachers are providing all 9th graders with algebra mastery assignments through ALEKS, a digital resource that provides personalized learning. With the implementation of practice opportunities, freshmen will continue to build on and reinforce their algebra skills. "

Does anyone know how many kids are we talking about here? Are they retaking Algebra or were they pushed ahead into Geometry or higher?

There is no full-semester algebra 1 class. This is for supplemental support to catch up on Algebra.

Last year's plan also had the ALEKS for Algebra support, but no specific mention of students failing Inventory.

I thought that was a smart kid school?

ALEKS was really helpful for my DC last year since they took algebra 1 over the Covid year. ALEKS helped them refresh and top up to be ready for Math 3 by second semester.

ALEKS is used in elementary schools, and in rare instances for late develoment in middle schools. But why is TJ engaged in elementary and middle school math tools? Oh wait, equity!

ALEKS covers up through precalculus, idiot.

Kids read books in elementary school. Why do kids read books in elite high schools?!?!? Are they stupid?!?!

I feel sorry for the lack of professionalism and maturity in your upbringing. Oh well.

TJ does not use ALEKS to teach precalculus. Instead, ALEKS is used as a remedial and intervention tool for students who lack algebra 1 proficiency coming out of middle school.

Let me get this. Since Math test was eliminated from TJ admissions, ALEKS is used after admissions to assess minimum algebra skills and provide remedial support?

Why not use ALEKS to evaluate students as part of the admissions process?

Used to be until 2021

Can students see their ALEKS evaluation report? Can parents request it?

Are there a lot of TJ kids who aren't proficient algebra? Is it because of they were able to get in by buying the test or something?

We have moved away from Evaluate, Admit, & Excel merit world to a Admit, Evaluate, & Remediate equity world!

At least now this less common than when kids were being prepped with copies of the test.
