Are you parents going to let your teen continue to use benzoyl peroxides now that they have found they cause cancer. Thoughts on for how long or how often?

I read this yesterday with interest, as I'd just talked with my son about using benzoyl peroxides for his mild acne. But this part led me to believe typical use isn't a problem: Tests involving dozens of these products suggest that when benzoyl peroxide acne treatments are stored or handled at high temperatures – such as when left in a hot car at more than 150 degrees Fahrenheit for at least 14 days – they can generate high levels of benzene, the lab announced Wednesday. That said, there are other options, such as Differin gel, that I'll steer my kids towards. |
| How many folks are leaving benzoyl peroxide products in hot cars for 14 days? |
Repeatedly, with several years of use. Seems far-fetched that typical use in teen yrs would be at all problematic |
Have you seen the inside of a teenage girls car? |
Since when do teens have their own car? Parents are in charge of the cars in our household. |
Plenty of teens have their own cars or a designated parents car. Sounds very ridged at your household. |
| Teens might have their own car, but are they keeping their nighttime face lotion in it? Seems like something that would be kept in a bathroom? |
| But showers get very hot. 160 degrees. My teen leaves hers in the shower. |
Showers do not get that hot idiot. |
|
So, if benzoyl peroxide remains at room temperature, it's perfectly safe?
No prob. |
| Literally 140 degrees is the default setting on most water heaters. Some set theirs even higher. No need for name calling 13:57. |
If storing it normally and using as intended weren't safe, I'm sure there would be more people sound the alarm. This is the go to product for acne. I used it for years as a teen and adult. I'm sure most of you have, as well. I've never left it in a hot car for 2 weeks. But, I will remind my kids to not leave theirs in a hot car for 2 weeks. |
Do you mean rigid?! Maybe some families can’t afford for their teens to have cars? And who tf is leaving their benzoyl peroxide in the car for 2 weeks?! |
