16 Year Old Female Players Turning Pro

Curious if anyone knows how much these 3 year entry level NWSL contracts are worth?

A lot, I'd hope, to make up for the fact that they could be finished by 22 with an ACL tear.

Doubt it, though.

ACL tears don't finish careers anymore this isnt the 90's. See Catarina Macario

In general, my opinion is that these kids should be training in that environment and maybe starting a match a few times if they are good enough but no way in hell should these 16 year olds should be consistently playing throughout the season for 90 min.

See: Christen Press, Claire Rafferty

Research suggests that 40 percent of players who have torn a cruciate ligament will do so again — in either knee — within five years. It is closer, in other words, to the flip of a coin than a roll of the dice.

Again, I was asking the $$ question: How much does a 16 year old sign for on a 3 year entry contract in the NWSL...40K a year? Young girl signed yesterday with Angel City and foregoing UNC. With NIL deals etc. not sure how turning pro at 16 is better than getting paid and playing at a great school.

About $35,000 a year.

Not a career such a waste of time and money.

Get your kid an education.

If they're good enough to be on the USWNT, then it's totally worth it.

Instead of being snotty and lazy, why not just goolge?

Different people want different things, and have different views of what's "better" or "great." This doesn't seem hard?

It's chasing a dream, which is priceless. Since we have a heavy pay to play system, their families may already be financially well off. Or, while their initial salaries are meager, those salaries may blossom into something more substantial later.

I bet it's more like 100k per year + endorsements and notoriety of being a 16yr old pro soccer player.

I know one from out of the area playing in DC. It's not great; but it's nothing to laugh at and the point is to get to the national team off your club team play.

Be nice to these kids. They are human and resenting they aren't your kid is not a reason to bash them or their own parents.

Once they play pro, their eligibility to play in college is gone. someone good enough to go pro at 16 would be good enough to get a full ride anywhere.
