I was successful with the first go-around of Taylor Swift (which I now recognize was incredibly lucky). So now on 4 different occasions I have been tasked by my teen daughters with sitting online for a Ticketmaster (or other ticketing operation) sale to start at 10am (since I work remotely and they're in school). I have never been successful again. I get in virtual waiting rooms, refresh like a maniac, never get tickets to even go into my cart. It's an exercise in stabbing myself again and again. Today it was some sort of festival in NJ---It sold out in about 20 minutes. I never even made it into the ticketing room.
SO FREAKING ANNOYING. Why can't they just sell tickets in person again? I miss the days of sleeping outside in line. Vent over. |
| Aren’t you supposed to be working? |
| OP here--just to clarify--these are not for Taylor Swift concerts--they're other artists. I can't seem to get tickets for anyone. |
|
It's really hard. Ticketmaster has a monopoly at this point and for a lot of artists they do that verified fan thing which they say cuts down on scalpers but really just makes it so the same people (aka the ones who spend money) are getting tickets.
I know multiple people who went to multiple Eras tour shows last summer. They are all mega fans who buy the merchandise and stuff. |

Wasn’t there a congressional hearing on this?
Agree OP it’s totally ridiculous. |
| Have you tried clearing your cache? |
| Agree, OP. We end up having to overpay on stubhub most times. It is really frustrating and I don’t know why the lines all start at 10am! Work day for many! |
| I get presale codes for everything but I go to probably 20 concerts a year. |
| Sign up to follow your favorite artists and you’ll get presale codes. |
| All the joy has been sucked out of live music. |
| How does Ticketmaster get away with having a monopoly? |
Except op isn’t working. |
|
OP here. I had a presale code today and I still didn't get through. Same with the last few concerts. It literally has become impossible to get tickets.
I'm working--on calls with ticket sale in the background. I'm sure some of you multi-task on Zoom calls too. |
| I find it helps if you unplug your computer, throw it out the window, and go outside. |
I mean, my job is flexible enough that I can make up the time later. But, if I have a meeting, I cannot do it. |
