Do you think it's hip to be square?

Or is it more hip to be cool and trendy?

Don’t know what your word salad means, so I’m guessing I’m not anyone you’d be interested in.

I used to be a renegade, I used to fool around
But I couldn't take the punishment and had to settle down
Now I'm playing it real straight, and yes, I cut my hair
You might think I'm crazy, but I don't even care.

No, square is not hip, fun, or exciting. By its very definition, hip isn’t square; it’s fun and rebellious!

Many of us chose to be square because that’s better / safer for us.

And then it’s fun to cut loose and be hip sometimes!

I’m always amazed how millions of trendy people can do the same thing. & they all feel like they are doing something bold & unique. Like wearing all black. Wow, what a fashion statement. I guess that means you are dark & mysterious, just like all your barista colleagues .

The key is to be square but do it ironically. Then it's hip. Huey Lewis understood this.

True squares are not fun nor hip.
