Head lice after company

Anonymous
My mom was visiting over the weekend and this evening we found lice on the kids. They were all cuddly and snuggly over the weekend, reading books together, etc.

Should my mom do an OTC lice treatment immediately? Call her doctor?

I always worry when she visits one of the kids will get the stomach flu or a sudden upper respiratory infection. Never even occurred to me we might give her lice!

Just inform her and let her decide.

One of my kids had lice last summer. I monitored and combed but in retrospect wish I’d just shampooed us all immediately. (You still have to comb in case there are eggs).

Your mother of all the people gave your kids lice? What are the odds?

BTW, the best way to remove the lice is dimethicone. There’s study after study on this and no one need shampoo their hair with poison any longer.

Her mom didn’t give the kids life, goofy. Kids definitely got it at school and possibly gave it to mom.

Tell her to find a lice clinic. A check is only $25, she can pay for treatment if they find any after that but just the check is worth the peace of mind. Don’t bother with OTC treatment, they’re immune and if you miss combing one egg you’re cooked. Just pay for lice clinic treatment which is effective and has a guarantee.

OTC treatment with dimethicone is 100% foolproof and there’s nothing to be immune to

Second lice clinic. They use heat and vacuum brush and then dimethicone. So efficient and easy to not have to worry about it coming back. Was one in falls church when I had to do it with kids

No. She is worried her kids will give her mother lice.

Definitely she doesn't need to see the doctor. Second having her go to a lice place to check and potentially treat. It's really hard combing your own hair and scalp, particularly if it's long.

100% Lice clinic. Do not self treat. she will never get them all herself.

Dimethicone will suffocate the live ones but not kill the eggs. Which means you still have to comb for those and if you miss one you start over again. Just go to the clinic where they do this all for you and give you a 30 day guarantee to retreat if they miss anything.

Dimethicone is the main ingredient in cheap hair shine serum. You can just buy a bottle of Garnier for $5 and do treatment yourself. Much easier to do a comb out with a lot of serum and a good metal lice comb.

I got lice of my kids when they were in ES. We tried combing and shampoos but the only thing that worked - that killed the lice, was the leave in spray. I was reading a book and the louse literally fell off my head onto the pages, dead.

repeat 3 days later and all is well.

Call her and let her know then book her an appointment at a local lice clinic for a check. Much easier than the poisonous shampoo.

This plus blow drying your hair on high heat will kill any eggs. Blow drying regularly is the only thing that really works.
