| What are your thoughts on holding promotion ceremonies for middle schoolers? I find it to be a little ridiculous given that at my school we don't even give out awards. |
| Given that MCPS does it for ES, I don’t think middle school is any different. |
The students and their parents are proud and that is nice. |
| It’s stupid |
| I find it frustrating to make such a big deal with having parents, a stage, and more if students get promoted/graduate if they get all A's or all F's. even if all students fail they still get celebrated? |
We had them for both K and ES so why not MS? |
| I think it should only be for students who passed. Even a D is fine. |
Middle schools are much larger and they might not have the capacity to hold all parents and students in one place. |
They hold the ceremony at a high school. I think it is good to mark the occasion. They give out awards for honor roll at our middle school. I'm looking forward to seeing my 8th grader at their promotion the same as I looked forward to the kindergarten and Fifth grade ceremonies. |
| It a fun community event. No reason to get worked up about it. |
| At my ms they do it for students and don’t invite parents for space reasons. |
| At my MS they bus the kids over to a private high school for the event |
+1 I like this arrangement. |
They did this at my son's MS and providing a Zoom link for parents. It was *horrible* - basically a total popularity contest based on strengths of cheers. When parents are in attendance there's enough polite clapping for all kids to make it less obvious. I really hope the school stops this awful tradition. |
