| My favorite car that I've ever owned was a yellow boxy Volvo 240 in the early 80s. I loved it so much. I can still smell it. When I see those few brightly colored boxy sedan's and station wagon still kicking around I get so wistful. I would love it if they would make a modern Volvo that's based on that old aesthetic. All the modern bells and whistles and safety features, but making them boxy, bright and solid! I would buy one in a second. anyone else? |

Yes, definitely, but only if they brought back the reliability and longevity.
Today's Volvo is lease-only unless you want to be eaten alive by maintenance and repairs. |

I don’t get why there aren’t more car colors. Everyone loves the jeep colors so why don’t more cars come in others?
If they came out with a rose gold Honda Odyssey- I’d be first in line to buy it. And no, that awful maroon doesn’t count. |
| Ahhh my mom had a bright blue boxy one, and I loved that car! I also remember the smell. Wish they would bring back something like that. The new suvs look just like Hondas to me |
| I had that same 80s yellow volvo but I drove it during high school in the mid-90s. Great car. And (but?) yes, the smell! |
| Ah, I loved my Swedish Brick! Blue 240. Bought it for $800… great car. I’m in, OP. |
| Volvos are TERRIBLE. And the dealership in Bethesda is THE WORST. |
|
I loved my 240! Great car.
While mine was white, I agree there need to be more car colors. Give me purples and greens. |
| Yessss! I’ve found my people. I’ve got an xc70 because it was as close as I could get to the old school boxes – but even that is getting old. |
| I prefer box shape cars and they are hard to find from most companies. |
| The smell--was that the crayon smell? |
| The foam of the headrests was so…grippable? Firm but also had surprising give. |
You guys know the ones I’m talking about.
|
| Ahhh, I loved our 240! My parents still have an XC70 from 2009, but as someone above said, that’s getting old also. Runs perfectly, but someone rear ended them and there is a concern about getting parts. They don’t make them like that anymore. |
This is OP. Thanks for that great photo. This is exactly what my interior looked like! |
