| Can anyone with a current student or recently attendee comment on the foreign language classes at Pyle (and by extension, Whitman)? Thinking about moving to the area from an Immersion program and would like DC to keep up their language skills. |
| Not good. Many Pyle students have to retake the same level language classes at Whitman because they are not prepared. |
| Recently there's been teacher turnover and teachers covering extra classes outside their area, plus long term subs. |
| DS's experience with French A/B was great. The Pyle teachers prepared him well and he is thriving in 9th grade French 4 at Whitman. |
I’d agree that French teachers are the strongest at pyle, including the head of the department. |
| My child is in 8th and has taken Spanish all three years at Pyle. They’ve had good teachers and my child is doing well. Not sure what other posters are talking about. |
Getting an A doesn’t necessarily mean you reach a certain proficiency level. |
That's exactly what I was thinking. |
| No Korean language or other Asian languages ? |
| I think they just hired a Chinese teacher for next year. Maybe they’re still looking. |
