How mych? |
Something like:
$20,000 student loans (5.5%) $150,000 mortgage (3.6%) $8,000 car (2%) I am going to pay off my student loans by December of this year. My spouse and I don’t have the same feeling as other people do about having mortgage, car, and student loan debt. We feel morally neutral about it. We view it as a business transaction and I am in no way going to pay off this car loan before it’s due. |
Zero -- but I'm a renter and looking for a house. So I'm hoping for debt? haha |
340k all in. 40k student loans and 300k mortgage.
Goal is to be rid of all but the 25k in student loans that are locked in at 2% by 2030. Not because I think debt is a big deal but because our mortgage is on a condo I cannot wait to be rid of, and we're going to use the proceeds to invest in the market instead of more real estate. We own the house we live in outright. |
Practically none - mortgage paid off next year, n student debt.
43 years old. Age matters here. I agree with you on the concept of leverage, but some debts are pretty bad to trail around, OP. You don't want interest to eat at your wealth potential. |
About 350k. |
$550K in mortgage on 1.3 million house. |
I am PP, I did have $80K in student loans which I paid back in 10 years. |
38. Only debt is mortgage. 1.2 M mortgage on 2 M house. |
Zero, 49
Agree age matters |
Just under $300K on the house ($425K total paid for the house), no student loans anymore (largely due to largess from my in-laws) |
$475K mortgage on what is now a $1.1 million house. Age 42. |
$65k credit cards and student loans. I took out $40k to buy Bitcoin in August. The return right now is 140%. Not in a hurry to pay back as it's at 0%. |
$97,000, age 51, down from $650,000 between mortgage and student loans 20 years ago. One of us worked while the other was in business school/law school so we only needed loans for tuition, then we chose a smaller house/mortgage in order to be able to pay off the student loans within 10 years, then we benefited from refinancing at crazy low rates 5 years ago. Timing and marriage worked in our favor, choices also mattered a lot. |
800k mortgage on a 1.4 house. Nothing else. |
