Does anyone have a kid that got into the schools that they wanted, but now wants to take a gap year?!

So my kid got into Clemson, University of Florida, Florida State and University of Central Florida - yes, all warm weather states. She loves all of these schools for various reasons. However, now, she wants to take a gap year (and do City Year) and at least all of the Florida schools will not allow for a gap year. She would need to reapply next year with the Class of 2025 (and from what I understand next year is supposed to be rougher than this year). Has anyone had to deal with this situation before?

I think it would be helpful to know what she plans to get out of City Year- the purpose/goal. And if she has looked into university programs for volunteering/leadership and also into summer programs that could be similar but still allow her to start school this fall. And is she okay with not being admitted next year to these schools, which is always a possibility. You don’t have to answer here, but I hope she has fleshed out all of it and considered all options and scenarios. Best of luck to her.
