Other jurisdictions seem to be solving DC crimes

Anonymous
I regularly receive crime notices in my phone. I've recently noticed that there have been announcements of arrests made in carjackings, but that the PD that did the crime solving and arresting has been another jurisdiction (Baltimore, PG County, etc). Does MPD actually do any crime solving?

No. Not allowed. It is racist to solve crimes.

Nope, it's not a thing here.

The DC city council and mayor will not let MPD do their jobs:

- police are forbidden to engage in any vehicular pursuits. Yes - if they witness a carjacking, they must allow the carjacker to drive off.

- police were recently ordered to allow street vendors to sell stolen goods. MPD can’t intervene.

- police have been ordered to treat anyone age 26 and under like other jurisdictions treat “juveniles” (18 and under) meaning no jail time and limited probation- at most - plus same day release for violent crimes.

MPD cannot do their jobs when the Council (with people like Allen and Nadeau on it) keep ordering the police not to do their jobs.

Allen, Nadeau and their SJW friends at the DC Justice League have emasculated the MPD. DC police can't pursue even violent suspects. However, the minute these lowlifes cross the PG County line or some other jurisdictional boundary other police departments are not so handcuffed by their local politicians.

I would view this as a good thing.

I am not a DC resident.

Seems as if staffing is an issue with MPD as well.

Has it improved since October?
If not, why would someone want to be a police officer in DC if the council has put such restraints on them?

Why indeed?

This is still a public mural on a DC public street:

Isn’t it just so welcoming to prospective officers?? /s

Council also does not allow cars to be pulled over for having missing/expired/fake tags, enabling reckless driving and criminals to get away easily.

The mistake the guy made on his murder/carjack spree last month was leaving DC limits to get lit up.

Why do you choose to “receive crime notices” on your phone? What’s wrong with you? Why are you so obsessed with this that you would have this information delivered to you regularly? Is it because you’re a racist and enjoy reading about Black men being arrested? Why else would you be so interested in such things? Did you realize that this is what educated people infer about you when they come to find out you subscribe to crime data on your phone? Explain yourself. You owe everyone here an explanation (other than the obvious one) why you’d garner such data.

Yes, let’s criticize the informed citizen. Love you virtue signalers. Poor person is just trying to get a feel for what weapons they should pack on a given day.

You got me. But I do it for the entire DMV. Current interest: tween girl carjackers.

This is a real problem. The police shouldn't be tearing through neighborhoods like its nascar. They need to have appropriate policies in place that balance safety and crime suppression. But there are circumstances where they need to pursue real-time crime. Or else word spreads fast that there are no consequences....and you get even MORE crime.

Actually carjackers are followed by helicopters.
