Bacon to sausage conversion rate

Let me first start off by acknowledging that this is a petty question.

I was at a local restaurant for breakfast. A side order of sausage is 2 patties, a side order of bacon is 4 slices, and they are the same cost.

I ordered a combo special that included a half-order of sausage (1 patty). I asked to sub for bacon, and received 1 slice of bacon. I told the waitress that I expected two slices and bacon as a replacement for the sausage, and she argued with me about it that it was a one-for-one replacement. I disagreed, but didn’t take it further.

What would have been your expectation in this situation?

To STFU and enjoy my pork product

I don’t eat pigs but I agree with your point.

I, too, would have expected two slices of bacon. But after my initial question, I would have kept the waitress out of it — since she’s probably not the person who prepared the plate or set the policy— if there is one.

Also, a “combo special “ isn’t always going to be the same as a “side order” — so, there’s that.

Yes to all of this. OP, I'd be a little bit annoyed, but it seems like they did substitute without charging. If they charged you, yes I'd expect more bacon for sure.

I’m with everyone else. For a weight/weight perspective, the sausage patty is worth more than one slice of bacon. But as others have said, some places charge for substitutions, and this one didn’t, so I’d call it a wash.
