Does anyone know how this works? Is it zoom or asynchronous? Also, are there graded assignments or is it just like self-study but it appears on transcript? If the cap is two per semester and two per summer, thereotically you could take 6 online ones a year right? Also, do you still take the ap exam?

Additionally, to confirm, do the grades from these courses get posted on the MCPS transcript sent to colleges?

Yes, as long as your child applies for approval first and works with their counselor.

The vendors that work with MCPS have a mix of formats. You have to apply first to get the list. I know two of the summer courses for calc are asynchronous.

Will the grade replace a lower grade for same course? Eg, will an A in online summer Calc AB replace a B from in school Calc AB? What if you have a B in both? How does it appear in transcript?

Yes, an A would replace a B. There would be no grade replacement if the kid earned the same score. The transcript shows the semester the retake was taken (e.g., summer) and the new grade if higher. Colleges will know that the class was retaken.

These links explain grade replacement: https://www.montgomeryschoolsmd.org/departments/onlinelearning/courses/ap/

You can take any AP test without actually taking the class. Kids at the W schools have been doing this for years
