| Searched the archives but didn’t see new info on how the school is doing since the new Principal took over last fall. Wondering if he would be able to keep it a “great” school… We are zoned for that school but feeling a bit hesitant about MCPS right now.. |
| I work for mcps and have heard he is excellent from multiple people that work at Wyngate. Hope central office doesn’t pull him away from the school. |
Why would they pull them away? |

| MCPS is generally a huge disaster at present. |
yeah. gotta go private. |
Stop Trolling....this quote is absolutely ridiculous....you are not getting your information from "multiple people that work at Wyngate". If you actually worked for mcps, you would know that this school is nothing like it was in years past. It's very sad. |
I work for MCPS (not the poster above tho). I think the post above is true about a lot of MCPS schools but not Wyngate. Wyngate was one of the best elementary schools in the area when the former principal was there -- I liked her so, so much! But it's still one of the best schools around now too. Really great school. The best of MCPS, truly. |
| Why is Wyngate one of the best? |
| We are going to miss Mr. Young. Was it fair that he left mid-year? Will Mr. Hirschfeld be promoted? We are on to our third principal in 5 years? Is it the parents? |
Why is he leaving? |
His father passed away shortly after an aggressive cancer diagnosis and he took some time to process that and ultimately decided to continue his father's legacy by taking over the company. Principal Young was a FANTASTIC principal at Wyngate and will be sorely missed by the community. His impact on the school in just a year and a half was impressive. |

I personally don’t know why you would live in that neighborhood unless you wanted to go to at least the public ES. It’s a wonderful wonderful community of families and parents and the kind of neighborhood where kids bike to their friends houses, meet up at the park, parents cover for each other for pickup or carpooling to sports and scouts etc etc. If you’re not going to be part of that, why pay the premium for the neighborhood?
The only exception is if it turns out you have a kid with special needs like dyslexia where McPs historically does not do a good job, but you have other kids you will send to Wyngate. Obviously other people will disagree and in particular it’s a convenient neighborhood if your kids are gojng to de Chantal, Woods, French school and Diener. |

| Not only was Mr. Young an excellent principal, but he was also incredibly charming and handsome! |
