I've noticed that the uber-liberal, know it all, lives in a lily-white enclave, like Bethesda/CC or Upper NW DC where they only interact with peons on a very superficial level and thus they can pontificate and tell us what is good for us. How would like if a bunch of illegals rented a house in Chevy Chase DC and had 20 people living in there, making noise at all hrs of the night? Doesn't happen so they just tell the rest of us how bad we are, but I bet they've never crossed the river to SE, but they're happy to tax everyone because it makes them feel better.

I'd be pissed if any of my neighbors made noise at all hours of the night, regardless of their immigration status.

You have not driven through the East Bethesda neighborhood of Bethesda lately because there are several of those houses there. Drive down Chestnut, Rosedale, North & South Chelsea and look for the houses with all the bikes in front and then tell me you know where they live.

Then go to the county real estate records, look up the owner, then go to the judiciary page and look at the citations the owners of the houses receive for having too any tenants in a dwelling unit, failure to keep the yard kept, and so on.

Then come back and tell us what you found. They are our neighbors; we see them passed out on their yards, in the parking on between Maple and Highland

I am betting that you know no more about living next to illegals. So by your own logic, your opinion is no more valid than that of the liberals that you despise.

But FWIW there are plenty of liberals living in mixed communities with Latino immigrants in Arlington. And yet residents there have not enacted any of the laws like in Prince William County. So I do not think it is fair to imply that liberals don't care because they are unaffected by illegal immigration.

Naturalized citizens are too busy quietly appreciating their rights by reading the Bill of Rights reverently by candle light. This is in part because civics is so engrossing, but also because they had to surrender the pistolas, hats, and their trumpets when they became citizens.

Most people interact with a small network of people connected to where they live or work. It doesn't matter whether they are conservative, liberal, relatives came over on the Mayfair or first generation immigrants. DH and I were talking last night about how in college we had friends from all over the place. The common connection was our field of study but economic background, race, ethnicity, and even age to an extent was much more varied. Now, we only have time to hang out with other parents, maybe a few co-workers who live nearby and have kids, or neighbors with kids. Life is boring but until we get off the darn playdate and kid activity circuit, I guess this is it for us. This is just the pragmatic way people live and it doesn't preclude their ability or right to comment, vote, and advocate on policies at a broader or national level.

FYI, there is an active band of lily white, uber liberals living in georgetown that absolutely can not stand 20 students renting a townhouse making noise at all hours of the night. They would probably prefer having illegal immigrants who go to work early and probably make less noise at night moving in!
