| How is it for non-Catholics? See it has less % Catholics than Notre Dame but more than Georgetown. |
| Great. No secret handshakes or other barriers for non-Catholics. |
|
If you knew about these, they wouldn’t be secret. |
| Honestly, I was a little surprised at what a large role Catholicism played when we toured. All 3 of the students on the panel had gone to Jesuit high schools. I was shocked that they didn't want to display a little diversity to give a different perspective. |
| Notre Dame is better overall despite the high % of Catholics. And better football too. |
Why would you be “shocked”? It’s a Jesuit school and many Catholics have it high on their list. Honestly I am happy to hear this. We don’t need another Georgetown which tries to conceal its Catholic identity. |
It's a Jesuit university. Their institutional priorities include recruiting enough kids who will foster and deepen that identity while not closing doors on others. That's what you saw reflected on that panel. |
I was shocked because given the size of the school etc. I'm accustomed to seeing the tour panels try to convince everyone that the school is diverse with a place for all. I was surprised, I didn't say whether I thought it was good or bad, just a statement of fact. |
I went there. Trust me, no secret handshake. |
| Ya know, it’s surprising to me how many Mormons there are at BYU. Don’t they realize how that looks? I wonder how “Mormon” people have to be to go there? |
| My non-Catholic DC is there and it’s a non- issue. Roomed with 7 Catholics and only one went to mass. You have to apply to join most clubs, but religion is not part of the criteria. |
Oh so it is good that kids don’t go to mass? Got it. |
| We’ve toured twice. Of the 6 students on the panels and 2 tour guides, none mentioned Catholicism, except two boys and one was Jewish and one from Sweden (not Catholic but “spiritual”). Villanova, on the other hand, we felt was very Catholic. DS not interested in ND or Georgetown. |
The initial question was regarding environment for non-Catholics. Non-Catholics don't go to mass, got it? |
