SSL hours - length of time before credited

Anonymous
Just curious how long it should take for SSL hours to show up online. My kid has maybe a quarter of the hours earned showing up and is missing the hours earned over the summer—forms turned in right away in the fall. Does it normally take months for them to show up? Kid has asked the SSL coordinator at the school, who says she is very busy but promises they will eventually show up. This is MS so no rush, just want to be confident they will get credited.

I've seen incredibly long gaps. In fact, it's a black hole in my experience.

Sounds like this fell through the cracks. Ours have always been credited at the next report card.

They are not showing up from the summer? That’s way too long. Maybe you can reach out to the ssl coordinator.

My kid’s usually get entered within a couple weeks of turning the forms in. The ones from summer really need to be there. We did have to follow up once because one set of hours never showed up and the SSL coordinator could not find the form. Luckily my kid had taken a picture of the form and emailed that to the SSL coordinator.

Our kids attended two different MS, one our home MS and one at a magnet. The magnet uploaded at least weekly if not the same day. They were so fast. Our home middle school you were lucky if it was the same school year/wasn’t lost. In our experience it can vary wildly by school.

The deadline for coordinators to enter forms is May 31. So they have until then.

That’s the deadline, but they should be entering forms before that. Otherwise they’re going to end up with hundreds of forms if they wait until late May. I think OP’s son has waited long enough and I would be concerned about the form being lost.

Yes contact the SSL coordinator, the counselor and the assistant principal for your child's grade level. Get this fixed. It's ridiculous this is a requirement anyway and how the information is collected is a mess.

If you're at Pyle the co-ordinator is notoriously slow. Sometimes you need to resubmit because she loses the paperwork.

Always take photocopies and keep in a file.

No. They can enter forms until the end of the year. Relax. It probably wasn’t a legit activity. Many aren’t. So many falsify hours. The whole thing is a farce.

These were all school-sponsored activities, so definitely legit. -OP
