Glen Haven Elementary

Anonymous
I'd love to hear how people's recent experiences (since going back to school in person) at Glen Haven Elementary have been? Also interested in experiences with the neighborhood in general. Thanks in advance!

Do not ask for feedback here. Attend, go to the school and see if it is a good fit for YOUR family.

This seems like an unnecessarily rude response above…

I’m a parent likely moving into the neighborhood and would also love to hear feedback on here.

Not PP but they probably didn’t intend to sound that way. If you seek reliable and objective reviews of schools, it would be best to look elsewhere. That is especially true when asking about schools like Glen Haven.

I was the second poster asking for feedback. I’m a longtime reader of DCUM and have found school feedback to be helpful; you just have to know what to weed out.

Thanks to the person who posted the older thread above. Would still love to hear from current parents regarding school leadership and environment. I saw recent PTA notes referencing bullying, which seemed concerning.

Thanks! My searching the site gave a couple of those comments, but not the full thread, much appreciated.

For the most part things have improved greatly at GHES, after MCPS transferred the previous principal to the VA, where she couldn't get into further trouble. The new admin there is so much better, by any comparison. The neighborhood is working-class, and pretty average, though perhaps a bit congested?

Mrs. Strain was the AP at my child's elementary school before she took this principal role and she was an absolute gem. I'm glad to hear she's doing well at GHES.
