| How would you invest 10K for your college kid? |
| Oh I hope the DCUM insider trader answers this one. |
| Roth |
| Crypto ofcourse. |
| Do they have an emergency fund? |
+1 if you are not an active or hands-on investor then buy solid EFTs - and keep contributing to the ROTH every year (max out the contributions). |
|
1. Roth. Best long term answer. Put entire amount in low expense S&P 500 Index ETF, keep adding to it each year and otherwise ignore until they retire (rich).
2. Maybe a HYSA or CD. Short term. If you think your college kid might need money sooner (buying house? wedding? car?). |

SPY in a roth and never touch it
|
| All in on Doge |
|
I wouldn't. If they are in college, it is time they open an investment account and start learning on their own. Let them gamble on a few stocks (or crypto), be boring and buy an ETF, or play it safe and put it in a savings account as an emergency fund. It really does not matter, what matters is that they take an active role in their managing their finances.
When I have this conversation with my kids, they will know they do not need to worry about an emergency fund, because they have me. They will also learn that I do not like dealing with finances so I like ETFs. |
| I would give it to them for kegs, euro railing and generally being young. Plenty of time for roths and 401ks when they are older. Now is thd time to live. |
| Put some in a roth (can only be as much as their earned income for the year. Put the rest in a CD. Give it to them at graduaton. It is such a luxury to start with an emergency fund. |
| If they have earned income go the Roth acct route. Otherwise taxable brokerage acct. Today decide upon SPY or QQQ, one has more Tech and maybe more risk vs. the SPY. Small amounts to DCA into the account. Every month, every year. Make sure they know what is comprised of these ETFs. You are an owner of these firms. |

How is this good advice?!? The SEC suspended trading of ROTH in April 2020 and it has been a useless and dead investment option since then. Think before typing, please! |
