I understand that the quality of ACE BTW instructors can vary widely. The instructor for Madison HS is listed as Parker. For those of you whose child has used BTW at Madison, what are your thoughts on this or any other instructor who taught there?
TIA |
| I signed up for ACE for the convenience of the schedule, not the instructor. It doesn't really matter--your kid should have at least 30 hours of driving under their belt already so it is just to fulfill the requirement. |
| At least you have an offering. Our school doesn’t even have one listed. And I can’t find room in a private course either until May. |
This. Kid #2 did BTW at Madison but not with Parker. It was fine. I was more worried about the other kid in the car, who did not have as much driving experience as DC and was extremely nervous, than I was about the instructor. |
Have you looked at nearby schools? With one of my kids there was nothing at our HS for months so I signed DC up at another nearby school. DC ended up with a great instructor and it worked out well. |
We looked but don’t have a way to get her to the other school after school. We need something that picks up at her high school. Maybe we should look again to make sure there aren’t different times. Thanks. |
| I did have to sign up 2 months in advance to get the session I wanted and even then I got my second choice (over thanksgiving week which meant it got spread out over a couple weeks). There's only two kids per session. I looked at iDrive SMart since you schedule each session online yourself, however their schedule had a lot of midday appointments so that would not have worked. |
We were able to do it because there was a later session. It started at about 5:30 PM, which allowed enough time for DC to get home from school and then to the BTW session. |
