I pay $45 for a 30 minute string lesson for 7 yo, does this sound typical? I am wondering when kids tend to switch to longer lessons (45-60 minutes) |
| That's exactly what we pay |
| Why you writing a book? |

We started with 30 min lessons at the Levine School of Music Suzuki Strings, which has semester payments. I can't remember how much it was, but along those lines. Then when DC was 9, we switched to a private studio and paid $100/hr, then ramped up to two lesson a week. |
I want to know what other people are doing. None of my circle does instrument lessons. |
| 30 minutes piano for a 5 year old 30 bucks |

My 13 year old has a 45 minute violin lesson (and is in AYPO). He has had a 45 minute lesson since he was 10 (and started in 4th grade at 8 with a 30 minute lesson).
My 11 year old has a 30 minute violin lesson but his teacher has mentioned that he will soon move to a 45 minute lesson. |
Ignore Rude Poster. We pay $70 for a 45 minute piano lesson. It's way more than I wanted to pay, but my son really likes her and wants to do well for her, so I decided to suck it up and pay. We are lucky we can afford it. |
Off topics but did he skip 2 grades? I’m trying to figure out how an 8 year old is in 4th grade |
| $75-80 for 45 min piano lesson. We are in DC proper and the teacher comes to us. |
Forgot to mention that we switched to 45 mi in 2nd grade. Prior to that we did 30 min lessons. |
| DD switched to 45 minute violin lessons at 7, but probably did it slightly earlier than normally would have because paired well w/ easing 3 year old brother in with 15 minute lessons. Hers come out to close to $100/lesson, but it's a Suzuki program that includes some other pieces (e.g., monthly group lessons, play-ins, etc). |
Same, but we’re going to a music studio, so the teacher is only getting a portion of it. |
Sorry, that should have said 9 in 4th grade. No grade skipping. |
| 30 min, $40 |
