| For those who have done perineal massage, what kind of oil or lubricant did you use? |
| I plan on doing it, but haven't yet. So I am curious about the responses too. I was thinking Olive Oil, although that wasn't one of the options on the "list" I have. |

the best (including during labor) is johnsons baby SHAMPOO!
pH neutral and not messy we use it in the hospital all the time!

Weleda Perineal Massage Oil. Incredibly, it is unavailable in the US (to my knowledge), even though the rest of their wonderful biodynamic swiss products are... do they think americans are anti-perineum? Is there a ban on importing such products? Who knows...
Anyway. Got it from my mother in France. Maybe you can try Weleda Pregnancy Oil instead - that is available (Whole Foods, or online). |
| I think you can use almost anything. I know someone who used just olive oil. I used a lavender massage oil from Trader Joes. |
| I am sorry but there is something about rubbing shampoo down there that just doesn't seem right to me. But you are probably right. |
if it can go into kiddos eye i dont think it would be bad down there... |
| Vit E. oil or you can take it from Vit. E gel. My friend used it along with religious kegel exercise. She did not need any stitch after labor. |
| I used vitamin E oil and, after 37 weeks, evening primrose oil (to help ripen the cervix). I also did not need stitches. |
