I ordered coffee cake at the cafe today and it tasted (and smelled) super strongly of onion. My friend had the cake also and agreed it was super onion-y, especially on the bottom of the cake. After we ordered we noticed someone had left their entire cake slice minus one bite on the plate in the bin. So not just us.
What could have gone wrong?? It was genuinely so bad I cannot imagine ordering it ever again. Cake looked normal, had a normal texture, was in the display case with the other pastries, but it was just overwhelmingly onion-y! π€’ |
| You should have brought it up with the cafe. What was it called on the menu? Or was it in a display case and you just pointed at what you wanted? Can you name the establishment? |
| Did you ask the staff? |
| But why did you eat it and not send it back? |
That would mean a less impactful DCUM post. |
| Yea you didnβt do anyone a favor by not bringing it up. |
| Something similar happened to me at a crepe place, it was because they used a knife/cutting board that had been used for onions. |

You really should tell them. They need to be more careful separating their sweets and savories, and imagine what they do with their allergens...

| I bought a cake once for an office birthday part at that fancy grocery store that used to be in Georgetownβ balduccis. It was green with mold inside. |
