How do you know you tret strength is right?

How do you know if you are on the best tret strength for your skin? I’ve been using 0.05 for 9 months. I see some differences but it’s small. Not as dramatic as some of the before and after a I see online. It does make my skin peak though.

Hi OP, I’ve been using 0.05 for a couple of months and 0.025 before that… I’m not seeing much difference either honestly but my skin was already pretty good to begin with. I think my skin is still adjusting the the tret and I have gotten a few zits though.

I didn't see much of a change at .025. Bumped up to .05 and saw a bit of a change. After a year I was still getting blackheads and hormonal acne. Because I tolerated the tretinoin easily after using it for so long, they increased to .1 and my skin cleared right away. I have to be more careful in the sun and using it in winter, but it is worth it to no longer have the acne. And my surface-level scars are also fading, thank goodness -- finally free of nonstop concealer application.

For anti-aging purposes, strength doesn’t matter long term. The higher strength will give you results quicker, but with continued use, using 0.25 gives you the same results as 0.1 once you’ve been using at least 9 months.

The only benefit to using a higher strength would be if you struggle with acne.

Thanks. I don’t have any acne. I’ve been using it for anti aging. Guess I just need to be more patient.

If it's making your skin peel, you need a better moisturizer or this is the maximum strength your skin can handle. I will spot treat pimples with 1%, or use it on my forehead which never peels. When my skin peels, I wipe off the dead skin with a washcloth.

I've been using Tret 2 years now. I use 0.05% in the summer but have to alternate with 0.025% in the winter. I also use BP 2.5% for acne in the mornings and my skin will feel raw/burning after applying that when I've done too many days of 0.05%. Usually backing down to 0.025% that night or skipping a night will resolve this issue for me.
