I went to buy a new car this weekend. I test drove the model / trim I wanted - but not the package.
The sales person priced up an option and I said thanks - we are going to test drive one other car but will be in touch. I call back and say - yes - I want to buy the car with the package we discussed and asked what time I could come to execute the deal. I hear back that the car is not available - they needed to take a part off for a back ordered part and therefore the car had the grill off blah blah blah. I said thanks - what other car is available with that package / pricing? The sales person said they would get back to me - and when they call back I find out that the car that we talked about would be available on Monday. Now - this is a "reputable" dealer (as far as car dealers go) but it left me really suspicious. I have NEVER heard of a dealer taking parts off a new car due to them being backordered. Should I go up the information channel at this dealership? Go somewhere else? Looking for perspective here. |
| This doesn’t seem that fishy, parts are still crazy back ordered. That said, I wouldn’t buy that brand of car because you can’t even *purchase* the car because of the back ordered wait times. After you’re already an owner, you get back of line service. Good luck finding parts ever! |
