We used a service for our first nanny. We don’t want to do that again but have no idea where to look (other than care.com).
We live in McLean - any listservs or other resources people use? |
Do you need full or part time? |
Full-time |
I have luck finding workers outside of home depots |
there's an entire nanny forum here on DCUrbanmom. look at top - one column to the right after DC Forums |
I posted on another thread, but honestly I've had the most luck on care.com. Try upping your rate range above $25 a hour and you should have a lot of nannies replying to your post. I would say maybe $27-$35.
You will have to weed through a lot of duds but eventually we were able to find a wonderful fulltime nanny. We also found a great weekend nanny/babysitter that comes once every two months or so from care.com. |
I agree $28-35 |
Post that you are looking for a nanny on Nextdoor.com . We’ve gotten a lot of leads there. Also, if a nanny you interview doesn’t work out because of a scheduling issue or availability, don’t hesitate to ask if they have a friend who’d be interested in your position.
Craigslist worked for us as well. I think the job posting costs $35. We found a wonderful live in nanny who stayed with us for 8 years on Craigslist Finally, good old fashioned word of mouth: I told so many people that I was looking for a nanny and asked if they knew someone : my cleaning lady, my neighbor’s cleaning lady, the cafeteria lady at my office building, local houses of worship , … I was able to get a few leads that way as well. Just keep in mind that the yield will be extremely low and don’t get discouraged quickly. Best of luck in your search |
Do you know anyone in mothers of north Arlington? If so you can ask them to send an email to the list serv on your behalf |
