Pickup Basketball -Kids

does anyone know of any pickup basketball in the DMV for kids say 5 to 8th(mostly junior high)? Everything is pay to play or leagues...etc. We are in MD but spring/summer, the outdoor basketball courts are empty.

and when I say pickup, I mean just kids, no trainers, no coaches, no parents hovering. just dropping kids off, letting them figure it out and pick them up a couple hours later

We do AAU basketball but would love them to just play, learn and get better that way

is youth pickup basketball dead?

My 5th grader plays pickup ball in DC all the time. He'll walk down to the local park or I'll drop him and a friend off at one of the rec centers, all of them have open gym time.

Find out your local community center open gym time for teens. My son goes there with friends sometimes and plays whoever is there.

Where are you?

There's always a ton of pickup going on at the FAlls Church Community Center.

A lot of kids my area regularly do open gym (basketball) at the local Montogmery County Rec centers. You just have to find which one the kids in your area are going to. In Olney, its Longwood.
