Looking to add healthy pasta to diet for carbs and protein. Need recs for best brand and type….whole grain, chick pea, Barilla, etc. |
We really like kamut pasta. Wegmans has it. There is also a brand called Monograno Felicetti, and a brand called Eden Foods. You can find these on the Vitacost website. Pricier than regular pasta but it’s worth it. It looks and tastes like regular pasta but has more fiber and more protein. It’s made from an ancient variety of wheat called khorasan.
I never liked whole wheat pasta - the taste and texture just doesn’t appeal to me. Kamut pasta is so much better! |
Thanks! Will look for this at Wegmans |
I’m going to try this too. Thanks! |
I have tried many alternative pastas and I love how well some of them match the flavor and texture of normal pasta. The only prob is they don’t agree with me. They, ahh, gum up the plumbing works. |
We use regular high quality pasta, but stick to the serving size and do a 1:1 ratio of pasta and veggies in the finished dish. It satisfies pasta cravings perfectly. |
This is the article that convinced me to try kamut pasta. https://www.epicurious.com/ingredients/how-to-cook-with-whole-grain-kamut-pasta-article
I believe the Organic Amore brand of kamut pasta sold by Wegmans is actually made by Monograno Felicetti. It is excellent. |
I like Banza chickpea pasta - it seems to hold up well to all types of sauces and prep and tastes good. |
