Would you move your 10 yr old to Europe?

DH has an offer in Germany that we are weighing.

Our only child is 10, and I know that’s a tough age to move across the world. Would you do it?

Where in Germany, and is there an American school or international school with lots of expat kids?

My DC, at 15, has lived in 3 different countries and it got much harder in her teens. But now she's starting to see the advantages it conferred, including language skills, familiarity with different cultures and friends around the world.

Yes absolutely

My parents did. Best decision ever.

Never, ever for either of my kids. But I can imagine there are kids who would do well.

I think this is a question you need to answer based on what you know about your kid.

Yes, absolutely.

10 is better than 16.

Do it now. At age 12/13, it’s a bad idea!

I kind of consider middle school a time to get thru so I think it would be ok. I would probably want to be back for HS though (or at least consider the pros/cons more closely)

10 seems like a fine age. I’d definitely do it!

Same. In a heartbeat.

Yes. Military families do this all the time.

Yes, I would. I have two kids, and this point, I would not. 10 is a great age to move.

Two kids in HS, I meant.
